Apostle Michael Orokpo Clarifies; Religion vs Christianity
CHRISTIANITY vs RELIGION.
Is Christianity a religion? This is a question many Christians will struggle to answer, with the majority accepting that Christianity is one of the religions in this world.
However, the few also comes with another school of thought which indicates that Christianity is not a religion. Among these few Christians is Apostle Michael Orokpo, and this is his definition of Christianity.
1. Religion is an attempt to reach God through rituals but in Christianity God reached us Isa 53:6, John 3:17, Rom 5:8, Col 1:27, 2 Cor 5:17.
2. Religion is an attempt to save one’s self through right living but in Christianity, God sent His son Jesus to Save us and gave us the Holyghost to empower us live according to His word Rom 3:10, John 3:16, 2 Cor 5:21.
3. Religion is an attempt to please God through devotion and penance but in Christianity we are children of God, well pleasing to Him in Christ, living out His will by the power of the Holyghost through eternal life Rom 8:1-2, Eph 1:3-4, John 6:63.
4. Religion is an attempt to act like God without the life and nature of God but Christianity is divinity expressed through Humanity Col 1:26-27, 1 Cor 6:17.
5. Religion is conformation and purely outward but Christianity is transformation, it begins on the inside and expressed outward. There is religion in christianity, yet it is more than a religion James 1:26-27, Rom 12:1-2.
We therefore ought to live;
* To please Him (God) as well pleasing children indeed Col. 1:9-10.
* Worthy of Him as a people chosen by God and set forth as His standard Col 1:9.10, Eph 1:3-4, 1 Pet. 2:9.
* Shinning as the light of the world Matt 5:14-16, Isa 60:3.
* Discipling the world and not being discipled by them Matt 28:28-19.
