Confident In The Infallible Word: Why Jesus’ Teachings Should Be Your Standard

In the quest for spiritual guidance, many Christians turn to men of God, seeking wisdom and direction. While these individuals can be helpful, it’s crucial to remember that only Jesus Christ’s teaching should be our ultimate standard. In this article, we’ll explore 10 compelling reasons why we should anchor our faith in Christ’s words alone.

Reason 1: Jesus is the Word of God (John 1:1-14)
Jesus is not just a prophet or a good teacher; He is the embodiment of God’s Word.

As the apostle John writes, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1).

Jesus is the living, breathing manifestation of God’s truth, making His teachings the foundation of our faith.

Reason 2: He is the only truth (John 14:6)
In a world filled with diverse perspectives and opinions, Jesus boldly declares, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). His teachings are the only reliable source of truth, providing a clear path to eternal life.

Reason 3: His teachings are Spirit-inspired (John 16:13)
Jesus assures us that the Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth (John 16:13).

As we seek to understand His teachings, the Spirit illuminates our minds, enabling us to grasp the depth of His wisdom.

Reason 4: He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8)
In a world of constant change, Jesus remains unchanging. His teachings are timeless, applicable to every generation, and relevant to our lives today.

Reason 5: Men of God can err (2 Peter 2:1-3)
Even well-intentioned men of God can make mistakes or lead us astray.

The apostle Peter warns of false prophets who will secretly introduce destructive heresies (2 Peter 2:1-3). Only Jesus’ teachings are infallible.

Reason 6: Jesus’ teachings are eternal (Matthew 24:35)
While human teachings may fade with time, Jesus’ words will never pass away (Matthew 24:35).

His teachings are eternal, enduring long after human wisdom has faded.

Reason 7: He is the ultimate authority (Matthew 28:18)
Jesus possesses all authority in heaven and on earth (Matthew 28:18).

His teachings carry the weight of divine authority, making them our supreme guide.

Reason 8: His teachings are for all believers (Matthew 28:19-20)
Jesus commissions His disciples to teach others what He has commanded (Matthew 28:19-20).

His teachings are meant for every believer, providing a shared foundation for our faith.

Reason 9: He is the perfect example (1 Peter 2:21)
Jesus not only teaches us but also models the Christian life. As our perfect example, He shows us how to live, love, and serve.

Reason 10: His teachings lead to eternal life (John 6:68)
Jesus’ teachings offer more than mere wisdom; they grant us eternal life. As Peter confesses, “You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:68).

While men of God can be helpful guides, only Jesus Christ’s teaching should be our ultimate standard. His words are Spirit-inspired, eternal, and authoritative, providing a firm foundation for our faith.

As we seek to grow in our understanding of God’s truth, let us anchor our hearts and minds in the teachings of Jesus Christ alone.
