IN PURSUIT OF GOD
Ps.119.10 I’m single-minded in pursuit of you; don’t let me miss the road signs you’ve posted. (MSB)
Pursuit from the word pursue means to chase or follow someone. It means to go after or run after someone. It can be a little misleading when we look at it with respect to our them scripture: In Pursuit of God. What I am saying is this, chasing someone might suggest that he is running from you and you are going after him to catch him but that’s not the idea I am communicating here.
God does not run from us for us to chase Him. When you read your Bible well, you will come across a scripture like this: Matthew 28:20 “… I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” He is with us always, even unto the end of the world. So, to pursue God does not suggest that He is far from us.
In pursuit of God is a metaphorical language: an idea that denotes an action that must be taken to getting deeper in God. For example, when you choose to pray earnestly and to study the Word because you want to know God, “you are pursuing Him.” You are not doing it because He is far away but because He is so close that you desire greatly to know Him. The Bible says greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. If He is in you (and yes, He truly is) that means you are not going to be chasing after some wind somewhere.
