JUST BELIEVE
1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
What does it mean to be born of God? Lets consider two scriptures that will help us greatly in answering this question:
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Romans 10:9-10 [9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. [10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Considering our first scripture, (Ephesians 2:8), we understand that we could not save ourselves, our salvation comes from God and it is by faith only; faith in the finished works of Christ.
Our second scripture, (Romans 10:9-10), also shows us clearly that this salvation thing is by faith in Jesus. When you believe and confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, you are immediately saved. This salvation we have in Christ is where “born again” comes from. When you are saved, you are literally birthed by God. And the Bible says, you that man who have been born again overcomes the world! That’s you in Christ, you have overcome the forces of life!
