LOVE NOT THE WORLD
1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
You are a child of God. You are not of this world, your life is peculiar. Have you ever wondered why you want to be close to God always? That’s simply because you came from God.
The was a certain man in the Bible called Lot, he had a wife and they gave birth to children. He settled in a beautiful place which later became very evil because the people there where living in great sin.
God sent his angels to destroy the people and the city but Abraham interceded for Lot because he loved him. Before the angels destroyed the place, Lot and his wife had to run quickly out of the city.
They were instructed not to turn back and look at the city but Lots wife would not listen. She loved the things of this world with her heart, her heart was full or occupied with the pleasures that are in this life.
So, even though God had mercy on her family and was saving them, she didn’t recognize God’s goodness. She therefore went against the instructions the angles gave for no one to look back.
Well, she looked back and turned into a pillar of salt. Looking back there means she treasured this life more than God. Her hope was in the riches she had in this life more than the God who was saving her.
Don’t put your hope in this world, Christ must be your hope. This world is empty, love Jesus and hate the world.
