THE ESSENCE OF THANKSGIVING
Colossians 4:2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
Usually, we say “thank you” to someone to express our gratitude for something they have done for us or something we are sure they promised to do and will do it.
For instance, if I should tell my son, “Kingsley, I will buy you ice-cream when I am coming,” he would probably jump and say, “thank you, daddy.” He is excited because he is sure I am going to keep my word. Again, if I should tell him, “Kingsley, I bought you ice-cream,” he would be happy too because he trusts me.
Out attitude towards God must be the same. After we have prayed and made supplications, we must understand that God is able to do exceeding, abundantly above all we can ask or think.
Knowing that He is able to grant us our request(s), our mouth ought to be full with thanksgiving, to express our gratitude for what He has already done though we may not see it immediately.
Jesus taught us something wonderful, lets check out an amazing faith scripture: Mark 11:23 “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”
So you see, in the Kingdom of God we operate by different set of principles. We understand that we receive before many times we even see the manifestation of what we have received. Lets say you have called forth money, start thanking God for having received it, you have it.
