Nothing is Too Hard: Finding Hope in God’s Unlimited Power
Is there a situation in your life that feels impossible? A relationship fracture that seems beyond repair? A financial hole too deep to climb out of? A health diagnosis that leaves you feeling helpless? In our humanity, we quickly reach the limits of our own power and resources.
But the Bible introduces us to a God for whom there are no limits. This attribute is called omnipotence—meaning God is all-powerful. He possesses unlimited authority and ability. When He speaks, worlds come into being. When He commands, storms cease. Understanding His power isn’t just a theological exercise; it’s the source of our deepest hope in the darkest times.
The God of Creation and Miracles
The entire narrative of Scripture proclaims God’s omnipotence. It starts not with a struggle, but with a sovereign declaration.
“I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” (Jeremiah 32:27, NIV)
The original Hebrew implies: “Is anything too wonderful for me?” The same power that created the universe out of nothing, that parted the Red Sea, that raised Jesus from the dead, is at work today.
“For nothing will be impossible with God.” (Luke 1:37, ESV)
No circumstance, no stronghold, and no heart is beyond the reach of His mighty power.
Power Made Perfect in Weakness
God’s power is not always displayed in the way we might expect. It’s not always about removing our problems; sometimes, it’s about sustaining us through them. The Apostle Paul learned this profound truth when he pleaded for a “thorn in his flesh” to be removed:
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’” (2 Corinthians 12:9, NIV)
God’s ultimate display of power was not in military conquest but in the weakness of the cross. Similarly, His power often shines most brilliantly through our dependence, not our self-sufficiency.
Living in Light of His Power
Knowing God is all-powerful changes our posture:
We pray with bold faith, knowing no problem is too big.
We rest in stressful situations, trusting the One who holds the universe also holds us.
We serve with confidence, backed by the infinite power of the Holy Spirit.
And above all, we worship Him—not merely because He is useful, but because He is infinitely mighty and worthy.
A Prayer to the All-Powerful God
Almighty God, I stand in awe of Your unlimited power. Forgive me for limiting You to my own understanding. Today, I bring You the seemingly impossible situations in my life: [Name your situation]. Display Your power, whether in miraculous change or in giving me strength to endure. Help me trust that nothing is too hard for You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Reflection Question: What impossible situation will you hand over to God’s power in prayer today?
