JESUS ABUSED

The inadvertent consequences of trivializing Jesus’ name.
In today’s fast-paced world, where words are often thrown around carelessly, one name stands out as being particularly misused: JESUS.
There has been a growing trend of using the name of Jesus in funny videos and for comic relief, especially on social media. While these videos may be intended to be humorous, they often end up trivializing the name of Jesus.
Whether in a joke, an exclamation of surprise, or even frustration, the name has been tossed around without much thought.
Imagine using your toothbrush to clean your shoes or your favorite towel to wipe the floor. Sounds odd, right? That’s because these items have their unique uses, and their perceived worth diminishes with inappropriate use.
Similarly, our faith in the power of Jesus’ name either increases or diminishes based on how we value and use the name.
I’m afraid a day might come when we will seriously need His intervention but won’t have the faith to do so because the name has been devalued in our daily use.
Exodus 20:7, among other scriptures, reminds us not to take the name of the LORD our God in vain, for God will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses His name.
If not for any other reason, for the sake of the consequent punishment, let us approach the name of Jesus with reverence and respect.
Let’s be conscious of the weight and authority the name of Jesus carries, and strive to use it with the honor it rightfully deserves.
