Ms. Kareema Al- Shabazz has always displayed a passion for the Arts, as can be testified, by those within her home community of Carenage. The young, Trinidad-born, Singer/Songwriter, Dancer, Spoken Word Poet, Upcoming recording Artist, and mother of one (1) began her journey of songwriting at the age of nine (9) years old but has always had a desire to sing, which was nurtured, in her earlier childhood years, by her grandmother’s (“Gran Gran”) passionate style of singing Gospel Hymns to Jesus at any time of the day and night.
Her teenage life filled with depression, aggression, and hard-learned lessons resulted in the unplanned birth of her daughter at the age of seventeen (17) years, and shortly after this life-altering event, she surrendered to the Lord, desperately seeking a way out of the pit she dug herself after all other options proved to be futile.
Mere days after her First ‘Carnival Camp experience in 2018, she was transformed by the Tremendous grace of God upon her life through, what can only be described as a Divine Encounter. Another medium being, through the extreme illumination of THE WORD OF GOD, which she once stubbornly rejected and claimed to have refuted, now became her salvation, passion, and the main source of inspiration in her songwriting.
Her 1st New Hit Single “Samson’s Riddle”, inspired by Judges 14, depicts her remarkable style of writing and peculiar tone; for which, listeners call her the “Erykah Badu” of Gospel music, was released on 18th September 2019, and debuted on the 23rd September 2019, at the ‘UNCOMMON RELOADED’ concert held by Mr. Jaron Nurse, and has ministered on the same stage with artists such as Samuel Medas, “Blessed Messenger” and “Positive”, was for her, nothing short of the Lord’s Blessing.
The young, and very talented Ms. Al- Shabazz intends to write, record, and release more music that will bolster the word of God, and Bless the hearts of Men, as long as the Lord permits her, to be used for His Honor and Glory.
