DECLARATION OF INTENT: MOHAMMED FATAHIA FOR SAVANNAH NPP REGIONAL WOMEN ORGANIZER
Alot of people have argued that, women in general have been sidelined in every aspect of human social life including politics.
But others also argue that, women are their own enemies which for Fatahia is a false assertion. She believes that when the world has the right women at the right positions, the world will be a very lively place.
When the right ladies occupy influential positions in every group or organisation, success, progress and victory is assured.
Meet one of the female assets for the New Patriotic Party, Ghana, Africa and the world who hailed from the Savannah Region.
In a speech to declare her interest in the Savannah Region NPP Women Organizer position, she said,
“Patriots, friends and well-wishers, today marks an important milestone in my life, as I declare my intention to run for the position of Regional Women Organizer of our great party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) when nominations for Regional Executive positions are opened.
It is not a secret that there is more to do in inspiring a lot more women across our infant region to get involved in our frontline politics. And I believe that my experience as a communicator coupled with being a constituency Executive member, gave me an eagles eye on the missing link in our women organization.
Indeed, by dint of hard work, I have been the brain behind some women groups including; NPP Savannah Regional women’s caucus, Savannah Region lady’s alliance, a Co-conviner and secretary for GLYPD that embark on a peace walk at the height of the 2020 Supreme Court election petition hearing and many others but to mention a few.
I have also traveled and toured all our constituencies and this has given me a bit more insight on the needs of our tenacious women across board.
Now is the time for the renaissance of the NPP Women’s wing in the Savannah Region. This is the party that used to command a greater percentage of women vying for political positions in Gonjaland, now Savannah Region, yet today it looks like a pale shadow of her former self.
It is therefore imperative that the renaissance of the NPP must give priority to attracting, motivating and retaining the women in our fold. This is what has inspired me to run for the Regional Women Organizer of the NPP Women Wing of the Savannah Region.
I am driven by the desire to bring a new spirit and dynamism which is based on grassroots organization of the NPP Women Wing and our tertiary branches and not empty rhetoric.
As a team player, I believe our most respected constituency and polling station women organizers deserve my caliber to work with them in the implementation of party policies and interventions that will support our women caucus across all levels in the region.
Being a firm believer of an all-inclusive working team that will be proactive, dedicated and well-resourced, free from bias and malice to embark on results oriented activities on regular basis so as to encourage more women on-board in order to understand the challenges facing our women organizers both at the polling station to the constituency level, to aid in the effective decision making process through the formation of a strong women working team”
BREAKING THE EIGHT
On the agenda to break the 8-year syndrome for all parties that comes into power, she stated,
“To break the eight, I shall facilitate the establishment of a special female force that will include all constituency women organizers, female counsel of elders and all key women leaders in the Savannah Region that would play a major role in spreading information and campaigning towards Election 2024.
The special female force will also have a mandate to supervise and raise resources transparently to support polling stations during the 2024 elections and beyond.
As a member of the regional communication team, and in my quest to enhance the capacity of the party’s women, I will lobby for a special training for women in communication skills for television, radio and social media interactions.
The TESCON (Tertiary Students Confederacy) of the party would be engaged while in school and after school, for mentoring and political activities while their database would be kept for job placement purposes and as reference for future political appointments. This I shall ensure will come to pass through facilitative networking with leadership.
It is crucial to build the knowledge base of the women of the party to fully understand emerging political trends. To ensure this, in a bid to break the eight, I shall lobby for such programmes to be held frequently to improve our women’s understanding of the emerging political trends.
As a young vibrant committed woman, the concerns of women are of paramount interest to me based on the conviction that, there is no tool for development more effective than the empowerment of women. The best way to hold the future accountable is highly dependent on the quality of support and opportunities given to the youth.”
Expected Achievements
Talking on what the people should expect from her if she is given the power, she added,
“In my tenure, I will work assiduously to get the aid of foreign branches of the NPP, the National Women’s wing and other charity organizations to empower our women of the party in the Savannah Region in skills development training at the skills development centers to train women for various trades with a view to empowering them to rally behind the NPP.
I intended to engaged our party financiers and like-minded people who agree with our ideologies to support our women organizers at the constituency levels financially for business purposes.”
To conclude her statement, she didn’t play with words but stated plainly,
“In view of the above and many more, I MOHAMMED FATAHIA HUMBLY DECLARE MY INTENTION TO CONTEST FOR THE POSITION OF SAVANNAH REGIONAL WOMEN ORGANIZER.
I am counting on all of you for your support, counsel and prayers on this very critical journey.
