Sisters J— Elisabeth- our newest pop single “Breathe In” began its journey in 2016 when I was only sixteen.
I wanted to write something that would encourage those struggling with anxiety and stress, like me.
It was intended to be a lullaby in origin, but it grew into something much bigger.
I distinctly remember the words coming to me, like they had been downloaded in my brain. Since then, the song has held a very special place in my heart and grows all the time.
The original title of the song was “Who You Are.” If you listen to the lyrics, you’ll find that it’s about remembering to breathe when life is hard and to remember who you are at your core.
Whenever I have found myself lost in life, I find my footing when I remember who I am and Who made me.
For me, this song is a conversation between myself and my Heavenly Father: to lay my head at His feet and just breathe in His love. It took me almost four years of performing the song to really understand that. It hit me like lightening!
This is a message that I want to share with the world. I always want to leave my songs open to the interpretation of the audience.
Because, as Dave Grohl said, you can sing a song to a crowd of 10,000 people and they will sing it back to you for 10,000 different reasons.
This being said, whatever your interpretation of the song, its overarching message is to breathe. To remember who you are. That is why we called the song “Breathe In.”
And in this world that is ever changing, we want to remind everyone that no matter how you come into this world that you are beautiful. Our differences are what make us unique, special, and should unify rather than diversify us.
My sister helped me with the second half of the song, and I remember that being the beginning of us really singing together with harmonies.
Through this we really learned to sing as one. It brought our art forms together and brought us closer together as sisters. It’s something only we can do together.
Music has been empowering for both girls in their lives, and they want to share this with others hoping to bring some light into the world.

About Breathe In
Greg Wilson, Elisabeth Jackson, David Wilson, Lily Jackson, and Mary Elizabeth Jackson came up with the storyline.
Elisabeth is by the lake contemplating life when a little girl comes running up to her and grabs her hand, inviting her to play with her and the other children and trying to show her that everything will be okay.
Soon other people begin to show up and join in some playtime and celebration that we are all okay just the way we are, no matter how we are born.
We included children with Downs Syndrome and autism to show diversity and inclusivity.
Lily is on the autism spectrum, and Elisabeth and Lily’s little brother, who is playing the drums in the video, is autistic.
We wanted to connect the song’s story about including and accepting one another in this life.
In the song, the girls pause and breathe, so different kids and adults take a breath in and remember who they are throughout the video.
