Rev. (Dr.) Chris Oyakhilome was thrust into Public Space in late 1996 with his flagship program on DBN, Nigeria (which were excepts from his Services) that aired for an hour at 9am every Saturday.
This program would be followed by another, a few months later titled Atmosphere for Miracles (AFM).
Atmosphere of Miracles like the name depicted was a 30 minute miracle and healing Program which aired at 6pm on Sundays also on DBN, Nigeria.
Atmosphere of Miracles took the Nation of Nigeria by storm and spread like wild fire across the length and breath of the Nation.
Both programs brought about an exponential growth and spread of Christ Embassy Churches and the emergence of the highly esteemed and sought after man of God as a Global figure and leading Tele-evangelist but he didn’t get it easy as we thought.
Due to this wild spread of Christ embassy churches and the degree of the supernatural healings and Miracles that came through the Ministry at budding stage,notable Pastors and Leaders of the PFN and CAN of Nigeria latched on to Pastor Chris by ostracizing him on account of what they considered as Practicing strange healing methods and excommunicated him from their fold and circulated the Excommunication to all and sundry.
Pastor Chris queried how he could be expelled from a body he never joined in the first place.
For two months or more, the print media (including soft sell magazines) ran weekly smear campaigns against him back to back.
To sell your paper or magazine at that time, all you needed to do was have pastor Chris face on the cover page.
All these were towards a singular objective; to damage his credibility and get his programs yanked off air.
The more they tried to smear his image, the faster his congregation grew and new Churches sprung up everywhere.
To rub insult to injury, he had another program tagged the Good Friday Miracle Night on the Ministry’s newly acquired premises on the Lagos/Ibadan Express which jammed traffic on the Express for two days.
This proved to be the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back .
The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) was conscripted to use their leverage to get his Programs, particularly Atmosphere oF Miracles, off the air.
The NBC Code was modified with a new segment concerning airing of Miracles, incorporated.
Thus, the Miracles to be aired had to be verified and verifiable.
How do you verify a Miracle prior to its occurrence?
NBC yanked off Atmosphere oF Miracles and gave stiff penalties to be paid by any TV Station which aired it.
Still his reach and influence expanded, particularly the Rhapsody of Realities.
He made a vow to himself after this incident.
A vow to own his own TV and Satellite Stations such that no one would ever be able to determine what he should air and what he shouldn’t.
Today, so many years later, he has TV and Radio Stations as well as Satellite TV Stations around the world.
